We, at Brainware Group of Institutions, aim at providing practical application of concepts through demonstrations and experiments besides emphasising on theoritical learning. With this objective,the techfest, Technitiate 2K19 was organised in the college campus on 13th of April. The inauguration ceremony included the cutting of the ribbon by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Brainware University, Dr. Subrata Dey and the lighting of the lamp by the Principal of the Engineering College, Prof. Subhasish Banerjee in the presence of the faculty members and other dignitaries. The techfest turned out to be a platform for the aspiring engineers to exhibit their innovative ideas through inventive and creative models. The participants showed immense enthusiasm and competence in preparing their projects. It certainly gave them an exposure to express their budding talents. We wish these students all the luck for achieving greater feats in the days ahead!


Industrial Visit to Patton International Ltd

An industrial visit to Patton International Ltd. at Shakuntala Park, Behala, was arranged on 25th of April 2019 for the students of Mechanical Engineering of 2nd and 3rd year. Patton, a Govt. Recognised Export House is a premier manufacturer and Star Exporter of Steel Stampings and EMT Fittings of International quality. It was a great opportunity for the students to see the production line of customized fitting products for electro mechanical tools including inventory control, material handling, assembly, quality assurance as also packaging. It was particularly impressive to see the complex automated threading and electroplating operations. The students were greatly benefitted by the visit.

Advanced AutoCAD Workshop

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Brainware Group of Institutions (BGI) arranged a two-days workshop on “Advanced AutoCAD”. The workshop, on 16 th and 17th of April 2019, commenced with an introductory speech from the Principal of BGI, Dr. Subhashis Bannerjee and HOD of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Shyamal Goswami. It was followed by an engaging session on the use of AutoCAD on an advance level by the expert, Mr. Shyamsundar Saha, a Sr. Engineer (Structural Design) in Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.

World Book Day

To observe the World Book Day, the Engineering College organised an awareness programme, 'The Resources of National Digital Library of India', jointly with Brainware University on 24th of April, 2019. It was inaugurated by Dr. Subrata Dey, the Honourable Vice Chancellor of the University. It was followed by presentations delivered by Ms. Bandana Basu, Librarian and the Asst. Librarians. The occasion was attended by many of the teaching and non-teaching staff who were highly impressed by such an initiative of the organisers.

Tech Quiz on Electrical Vehicles

A Tech Quiz on the topic Electrical Vehicles was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 27th April, 2019 . The tech quiz with different rounds tested the students knowledge on the subject ,moreover gave them the exposure to learn from each other and from their own mistakes.This healthy competiton cultivated a positive spirit in the participants and equipped them for the upcoming challenges for their professional life ahead.Sourav Das immerged as winner of this tech quiz.Debasis Roy and Swaraj Chakraborty stood 2nd and 3rd .

Seminar on Solidworks

A seminar on Solidworks and Solid Modeling” was arranged by the Mechanical Department of the institution on 29th of April, 2019. The eminent speakers Mr. Sovan Sarkar (Business Development Executive, Pelf Infotech Pvt. Ltd.) and Sudip Bhattacharya (Technical Lead, Pelf Infotech Pvt. Ltd.) enlightened the students on design industry and its present market. The entire seminar focussed on learning softwares from a basic level .Its user base ranges from individuals to large corporations, and covers a very wide cross-section of manufacturing market segments. With high efficiency and low license cost in compared to many CAD softwares available in market Solidworks has gained popularity in manufacturing industries. This practical experience helped the students to upgrade themselves and channelise their thought process.

CATIA Workshop

A group of eight, 3rd and 4th year students of Mechanical Engineering of participated in a scheduled two - days’ workshop on ‘CATIA Solid Modeling’, conducted by Mr. Swarup Giri, Technical Director of Techhub Solutions, held on 26th April, 2019, while the next session is to be conducted on 4th May, 2019. Students got to learn in greater detail the basic commands most frequently used in CATIA in solid part modeling, part assembling in mechanical part design, how to use the tools to complete product definition, including functional tolerances as well as kinematics definition and more on its applications to a wide variety of industries including aerospace and defense, automotive, and industrial equipment, shipbuilding, plant design, life sciences, architecture, process power and petroleum, and services.

Highlight of the month

Anandadhara 2K19

It was time for mirth, merriment and festivity! The Cultural Fest of Brainware Group of Institutions, Anandadhara 2K19 unleashed the carnivalesque spirit as the students participated in various eventswhich were not only entertaining but also appetizing. The fest spanning over three days from 12 th to14 th of April, included Cooking Competition where the participants showed great zeal and enthusiasm in brewing the most sumptuous of recipes, Quiz Contest where the students showedoverwhelming competence and Sports events like tennis and football. The competitors displayed admirable merit and skill that kept the attention of the audience enthralled. Besides, the centre of attraction of the Cultural Fest was the band performance on Sunday evening.The very renowned Underground Authority was invited to captivate the audience with theirmelodies which were both rocking and mellifluous. It was an unforgettable evening for the spectators as they left the campus with memories that have certainly carved an everlasting niche in their hearts.

Students Corner

Tech Quiz 2019!

To indulge students in group activities and impart knowledge through competition, a Tech Quiz was organised by Brainware Group of Institutions in association with Vani Institute on 28 th of March 2019. It inculded two sessions running simultaneously. The first session was participated by students of EE & ECE Department. It was a tough fight posed between the two, but finally the former grabbed the title of the champions. The participants of ECE were declared the runners up. In the second session, the renowned faculty, Mr. Abdul Bari addressed the students. It was attended by the CSE Department. It was an interesting session as the participants not only exhibited remarkable skill but also gained a treasure trove of knowledge. The event was indeed a successful one!
