Brainware Group of Institutions in collaboration with reputed Solar groups and Enterprises had organized a Vocational Training on Solar Power System Designing, Installation and Maintenance at its Barasat campus from the 6th to the 18th of July 2017.

The Workshop focused on developing the science of Photovoltaic Cell creation, and training the participants in the installation of such a cell in its full array in accordance to the latest in-vogue design, manufacture and installation techniques.

Starting off with the basics, the workshop elaborated on topics like Solar Energy and what is Solar Energy, Irradiation, Component selection and so on. Through extensive theory sessions the basics of batteries, grids, cables, systems and panels were explained. Industry experts from Ongery Pvt. Ltd. and Geetanjali Enterprise attended these sessions to help the participants to better understand the science of the Photovoltaic Cell.

To understand the subject and the process better the workshop included industrial visits. Under the guidance of experienced professors of Brainware Group of Institutions and Industrial experts the participants visited Geetanjali Solar Enterprise on the 15th of July and the 500 KV Peak Canal-Top SPV Power Station at Eco Park on the 18th of July.

All the trainees were awarded with a certificate of merit on behalf of Brainware Group of Institutions-SDET after their successful completion of the workshop.

Opening arms to the new members

The Brainware Group of Institutions has always regarded the students as its main wealth. Their welfare and security is the Institution’s primary concern. The Orientation Programme was primarily aimed towards clarifying the doubts of the new students and the anxious guardians regarding rules, regulations and other allied disciplinary matters.

Brainware Communication Club – towards overall development

Brainware Communication Club started its journey on the 16th of August 2017. The primary aim of this Club is to present the students with real life experiences through various interactive sessions to enhance their confidence and communicative skills.

Industry readiness programme

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with Duttcon Consultant Engineers Pvt. Ltd., organized a One-day Training for the final year B.tech (ME) students in July 2017, as a part of our Industry - Institution Interaction Programme at the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Kolkata Chapter.



National Service Scheme – A step towards “SWACHH BHARAT MISSION”

Like every year, Brainware Engineering College organized an NSS programme this year too with the motto: ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAGS’. The students of first year, under the guidance of the teachers made the programme a success by conducting a rally ,distributing eco-friendly cotton bags, and raising awareness about environmental degradation by plastic bags.

Faculty Development Program

Brainware University, in collaboration with the Brainware Group of Institutions organized a week long Faculty Development program on the topic—“Faculty Development Program on Latest Trends and Teaching Methodology” that commenced from the 11th of July, 2017 at the Barasat campus. Eminent scholars and industry-experts like Dr. Somnath Ghosh, Prof. Dept. of Civil Engineering JU, Former Dean of Engineering, JU; Dr. Asit Baran Chattopadhyay, former HOD Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur and Dr. Biswajit Ghosh, former Director School of Energy Studies, Jadavpur University graced the programme and benefited the attending audience.


Highlights of the Faculty Development Program

Speaking on the topic "Higher Education in India", Prof. Somnath Ghosh, very lucidly presented the present Indian scenario. Focus areas should be differentiated and institutions must be categorized according to its specialties namely Foundation, Career and Research based Institutions.

Prof. Asit Baran Chattopadhyay delivered lectures on "The Prerequisites of being a Better Teacher" followed by a presentation on the topic "Manufacturing Technology- The recent trend in Research". Prof. Chattopadhyay presented a very simple formula of “Knowledge X Communication X Health” where each of the variables are equally important.

Dr. Biswajit Ghosh deliver a lecture on the topic "Sustainability in Energy Technology". He presented the draining out of the conventional energy resources and how this constant usage has affected the environment.

Placement Meet, 2018
A Step towards Realizing the Objective

On August 22-23, 2017, Brainware Group of Institutions organized a Placement Meet for the final year students of B. Tech, in order to give them a glimpse of their bright future. They were informed about the process of campus-placement, about the prospective companies and brands, first-hand experiences, the way they must groom themselves before appearing for placement, the do’s and don’ts of interviews, and the importance of pre-placement training. This marks the initiation of the entire campus-recruitment process for this year.
