We, at Brainware Group of Institutions, aim at providing practical application of concepts through demonstrations and experiments more than emphasising on theoritical learning. With this objective, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering organised a five-day workshop on Data Science using R-Programming in collaboration with IEEE. Data Science is an interdisciplinary field that involves techniques to acquire, store, analyse, manage and publish data associated with media, travel, communication, transaction, treatment, education etc. Such workshops help to understand and learn the underlying structures of data. The aim of this workshop was to gather experts in Data Science and Machine Learning, and facilitate the participants to get both theoritical and hands-on experience on different aspects of this subject. The workshop was arranged from 29th of January to 2nd of February. Through demonstrations, speeches and engaging sessions, it enabled the participants to exchange ideas and information on recent researche studies, challenges and systems of development. The participants were highly benefitted by the seminar. It was an immensely successful workshop that helped the students gain knowledge and a deeper insight on the subject. We hope to have more such workshops in the days to come!


Prayas-Wall Magazine!

To harness the creative talents of the young minds and allow them to project their artistic ideas, Brainware Group of Institutions had come up with the concept of maintaining a Wall Magazine, Prayas. This time the students have showcased their creativity both in writing and in sketching, adhering to the theme,”The Real Heroes”. Through poerty, passages and portraits, they have upheld the true essence of heroism in their view. We are proud to display such wonderful pieces and look forward to more such contributions in the days to come.

PhotoFrame PhotoWalk!

Taking snaps to capture a moment in the form of a photograph has become an inevitable trend of the modern era, be it photos of others or selfies. Brainware Group of Institutions has come up with a wonderful initiative to expose the budding photographers to the exact type of platform they require to excel. In this regard, the Brainware Photography Club, Photoframe organised a Photowalk session to Mallick Ghat, Howrah Bridge and Burrabazar on 2 nd of March, 2019. The participants were introduced to the various technicalities of photography.

Industry-Visit to Lexus Motors!

One of the salient features of the different branches at Brainware Group of Institutions is to arrange Industry Visits at regular intervals. With the objective of grooming competent engineers trained in the latest of scientific technologies, the Mechanical Engineering Department of BGI organised an Industry Visit to Lexus Motors Workshop of Tata Motors on 5th of March, 2019. The visit was attended by numerous students of the 2nd and 3rd year under the guidance of our proficient teachers and industry experts. The participants were highly benefitted by the event. It was indeed a successful session!

Photoframe Workshop!

To enthuse young minds in the art of photography and media studies, the Brainware Photography Club, Photoframe was formed. On the 1 st of March, a workshop was organised by the club on The Basics of Photography;, headed by Mr. Satyabrata Poddar,TIC of the ME Department to broaden and deepen the knowledge base of the students.The participants included students from many departments and members of the club where, through presentations, speeches and demonstrations, the enthusiasts were enlightened on the technicalities of photography.

"A 30 hours Industrial Training on Advance Java with J2EE Framework"

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Brainware Group of Institutions, in collaboration with the IEEE Students’ Branch-BGI has planned to organise a "A 30 hours Industrial Training on Advance Java with J2EE Framework" workshop at its Barasat campus in the forthcoming days and months with the intention of producing quality graduates trained in the latest tools and technologies in software and hardware products and services and training them according to 21st century industry standards thus boosting their employability skills.

Tech Quiz

A tech quiz was organized in association with Vani Institute, Kolkata on 28th March 2019 in the Seminar Hall, Engg Building & Seminar Hall of University Building II as two parallel sessions.The first session was held at Engg building seminar hall where students of Electrical Engg & ECE took part. Here, students of Electrical Engg won the Tech Quiz and the stiudents'of ECE got runners up position.Another session was held for CSE students in which renowned Faculty Mr. Abdul Bari addressed students.

Highlight of the month

The Support Behind the Screen!

The students of Brainware Group of Institution have once again come up with accolades as they actively took part in the NPTEL courses and secured the top ranks. The strength behind the golden fruits of the students' success in the NPTEL Examination is the constant support and inspiration of their teachers. In order to acknowledge the efforts put in by the mentors, Brainware Group of Institutions organised a Course Topper and Mentor Felicitation Programme. The Principal of the Engineering College handed over the trophies and certificates to the successful students and mentors. They have deservingly paved their way to this accomplishment and rightfully earned our praise!

Science Day Celebration

On occasion of the birth anniversary of the renowned Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman, Brainware Group of Institutions celebrated National Science Day on the 28th of February, 2019, at its Barasat campus in collaboration with the IEEE Students’ Chapter-Brainware Group of Institutions. Graced by the Heads of all the various Departments and other academic and administrative members, principal Dr. Shubhashish Banerjee inaugurated the event along with deputy registrar Mr. Pulak Patra. Guest Speaker Mr. Biswajit Roy, TPO, BGI, enlightened the audience with his pearls of wisdom on Raman and his contribution to science and technology. Elaborating on the theme of ‘Science for all’ the participating students prepared write-ups and presented PPTs stressing on the importance of science and technology in daily life. The occasion was further celebrated through an exhibition where the students showcased models, posters and charts showing the bond of technology with human life. The event was called to an end with an enthralling T-Shirt painting competition which looked to harness the creative energies of the students on this topic into an innovative endeavour.
